Recycling Right in Reno: Waste Management x The Waste Less Shop
Wednesday, July 1
6:00–7:00pm
The Waste Less Shop
Free community event/ happy hour
Join us for a free community happy hour event to kick off Plastic Free July at The Waste Less Shop.
This year, we want Plastic Free July to feel practical, welcoming, and actually doable. Not perfect. Not overwhelming. Just small swaps, better habits, and a little more clarity around what really makes an impact here in Reno.
Waste Management is hosting Recycling Right in Reno, a one-hour educational event designed to help you understand what actually belongs in your recycling bin, what common mistakes to avoid, and why reducing waste at the source matters just as much as recycling correctly.
After a short presentation from Waste Management, we’ll walk through a hands-on Trash Audit + Swap Table together. We’ll pair common household waste items, like plastic wrap, paper towels, plastic soap bottles, disposable sandwich bags, produce bags, and scrubbers, with lower-waste alternatives you can actually use at home.
Guests will also be invited to add to our Community Impact Wall by writing down one plastic item they want to reduce this month.
This event will launch our Plastic Free July Passport Challenge. Pick up your passport during the event, complete simple low-waste actions throughout the month, and turn it in by the end of July for a raffle entry and prize.
Plastic Free July does not have to mean changing your whole life overnight. Come learn with us, ask questions, pick up your passport, and start the month with one small swap that feels doable!
